Cognitive neuropsychological rehabilitation in childhood dysgraphia.

In cognitive neuropsychology, models of language processing have been utilised to analyse and interpret both acquired and developmental spelling disorders (i.e. dysgraphia). In turn, the performance of adults and children with dysgraphia has been used to evaluate cognitive models of spelling. However, so far only limited research has focussed on the application of cognitive models to the rehabilitation of dysgraphia. I am interested in investigating the extent to which cognitive neuropsychological theories and models can be successfully utilised in guiding the treatment of spelling disorders, and in evaluating what the results of treatment studies can then tell us about the nature of the spelling process.
