Effect of bilingualism on cognitive-linguistic abilities.

I am investigating how bilingualism interacts with our cognitive-linguistic abilities. Currently, I am exploring novel word learning abilities in bilingual speakers with different language learning histories (i.e., early vs late) and proficiencies (high vs low). I am particularly looking at the role of short term memory and executive functioning in bilingual word learning in unimpaired and impaired speakers (e.g., people with aphasia) and will interpret the findings in current models of bilingualism.
